    I founded Benefits Unlimited Consulting and am a Certified Employee Benefits Specialist currently compliant, which is a formal recognition of the ongoing, career-long professional development that CEBS graduates maintain to best serve their plan participants, employers and other stakeholders.  


    I am licensed in the province of Alberta, offering products and services from a wide range of providers and insurers. I am not employed by any insurer and do not have any ownership interests in any insurance company. I work on a commission basis when clients appoint me as their Advisor of Record (AoR) or on a fee for service basis, in which clients pay Benefits Unlimited Consulting directly. 


    I owe my clients a duty of care under common law and exercise competence in understanding plan design, suitability, legal implications, and potential impacts for employees and employers. This includes ensuring recommendations are based on accurate and complete information and aligned with my client needs. 


    I am  committed to providing independent, objective advice - without any pressure or product bias. Any potential or actual conflict of interest will be disclosed in writing and I will seek informed consent before proceeding with any work or service.

    Your choice of an advisor should be based on their knowledge and specialization in employee benefits. 


    You can check this by looking at their credentials CEBS, GBA, etc.  The CEBS designation is a credential that is recognized for the depth and relevance of critical knowledge achieved by the advisor.

    Check their website and other information available on the web, which should indicate that employee benefits and group insurance is their area of specialization. 


    Why? Many advisors are generalists, handling investments, life or disability insurance. It is vital that employee benefits is the area they specialize in and their primary focus.

    These questions will help employers distinguish between a “plan seller” and a true advisor/partner who adds strategic value.
